Every neighbourhood has someone who always knows where to go. In ours, it's Albu.
You'll spot him by the red bandana, the blue sneakers and the pistachio flecks on his kulfi body. He's usually pointing at something: the next lane, the shop with the coldest freezer, the treat that fits the moment.
After cricket
Albu's favourite expedition starts when a match runs late and the afternoon is still hot. Bat over one shoulder, he leads the way. For him, the point of exploring isn't finding something new every time. It's finding the right thing for right now: a cold stick after a long innings, a cup when friends want to sit and talk.
